This is the launch site for Captain Herb Emory NASCAR Show. Racing, Racing, Racing, and a great show.
Our History Project is a weekly show that will take history and make it his - story. We will focus on the story behind the story, capturing history from firsthand accounts, when possible, and bring to light what impact those decisions made in their life. We know the history, we can see the facts, now let's hear the influence of those events by the people who were there. Our goal is preservation; we want to preserve these memories for the ages, or in the immortal words of Author and Poet, Joseph Rudyard Kipling - "Lest we forget."
Our History Project
Our main Mission and Goal is first and foremost "Preservation" and "Education". We will focus immediately on the preservation of oral history through Our History Project shows that will be available each week, we want to educate you and your children on the undocumented; (such as first hand accounts, journals, day books, letters and discussions of not only the people and their experiences but also researchers and experts); facts through history as it relates to a personal reality . Very soon we will encompass the written word into Our History Project. This site will serve to be a repository of collections of personal wittings that has documented not only the day to day life in America but also those that center around and cover the events that has shaped our country.

Our History Project is a weekly podcast show that will take history and make it his - story. It will be available here  to stream or download as well as i-tunes, zune market place and a host of podcast feeds through out the world. We will focus on the story behind the story, capturing history from first hand accounts, when possible, and bring to light what impact those decisions made in their life. We know the history, we can see the facts, now let's hear the influence of those events by the people who were there. Our goal is preservation and education; we want to preserve these memories for the ages, or in the immortal words of Author and Poet, Joseph Rudyard Kipling - "Least we not forget."

As researchers we are always excited and are in fact looking for those journals, writings and daybooks to give more insight into our history. A record that may give way to details left out of the mainstream documentation. A case in point - We know during War Between the States in the Atlanta Campaign 1865, troop movements, battles and skirmishes happened. We know the dates, days and times. However, it takes the personal writings in journals to understand the hardships faced - food, water, shelter - what did they do to survive? It's those personal accounts that bring the reality to our family and our nation. It is those events that shaped our time and our country. It is these accounts that we want to persevere.

Along the way we will make many stops at some likely and unlikely places. We will learn about the small towns; have guided tours through National Historic and Local Historic places. We will find out some of the behind the scene activities and learn some of those unknown facts about the people and places.

We will also explore places where you can dig up more research information. We will tour the local, state and federal achieves, their collections and interview the managers and curators. We will talk to other historians, archaeologists and researchers, and in the process try and help you find more tools that will aid you in your research."

Our future vision:
As this project grows we have big plans and a greater vision. We also understand that there are stepping stones to get there, but with your help we will.

We want to be a repository and a source to study, learn and explore the world of not only historical fact, but we also want to include those documents and wittings that are in essence facts but reveal more. I am talking about Journals, Day Books and Letters. I can envision a complete staff dedicated to referencing and assimilating the information sent in. Can you imagine all the information that can be revealed, documented, housed and readily on hand to anyone with a computer anywhere in the world.

We want you to send in those documents that you have re-typed, and you can start sending those in soon. We will ask that you send your name, address, contact phone number and e-mail address so we may contact you later when this part of the project rolls out. We do not want Wills at this time unless you see a significant historical value to it. You may send it in, we will review it as a panel. ( No personal information will be shared or given out, it will only be used to contact you for releases of the document so they can be viewed here and/or included in future programs or projects by Our History Project.)

We also have visions of a program that will send knowledgeable volunteers to the classroom. Those that can relate historical events in a manor that will be meaningful and understandable to children. Along with this we want to produce entertaining short versions of historical events in a fun way that will be interesting for kids to listen to and you can take along with you.

We will be contacting the United States Board of Education and State Board of Education to develop a national curriculum that can be integrated into the classroom throughout the Country.

There are countless other places this project can go and grow. We have a vision already with immediate, short and long term goals, however we are always open to new ideas and will welcome them.

The main thing I can stress, and I can't stress this enough - It is OUR history, lets document and chronicle it. The good the bad and the ugly, it is OURs to remember or to forget. Only you can choose which it will be.
